Wilf’s Rehabilitation Journey: Overcoming Elbow Dysplasia

Rehabilitation for elbow dysplasia in dogs is a long but rewarding process. These before-and-after photos tell the story of Wilf’s incredible journey since his diagnosis in July last year.

With the expert guidance of my physiotherapist, we’ve worked together for seven months to help Wilf build strength and fitness, giving him the best chance at a normal, happy life.

Why Rehabilitation for Elbow Dysplasia in Dogs Matters

It hasn’t been easy—there have been ups and downs, moments of despair, and more than a few tears worrying about what Wilf’s future might hold. It’s been a true emotional rollercoaster 🎢.

Every day, Wilf has had his physiotherapy exercises, carefully designed to teach him how to stand with proper posture. This work is crucial to help his body naturally engage his core muscles, reducing the risk of injury if he slips or trips during his adventures.

And adventures are definitely back on the table! Wilf’s favourite pastime is wreaking havoc 🤣—he’s making up for lost time after months spent crated during recovery.

A Remarkable Transformation

Looking at these photos now, it’s hard to believe Wilf is the same dog. His transformation is a testament to the dedication and hours we’ve put into his recovery, guided every step of the way by my incredible physio.

While there’s still work to be done and the physio hasn’t let me off the hook yet 🤣, I’m cautiously optimistic that our dream of doing gundog work together might just be within reach. Fingers crossed 🤞!
